Overhaul your blog's content strategy

To help determine a good content strategy for your blog, you need to consider three points:

The content must be relevant to your audience. What do they want to learn/know? What are they searching for online? How can you help them?

Each post, page, and item on your website must speak to your target audience’s needs, not YOUR NEEDS.

Your content is cohesive and adds value. While meeting the needs of your audience, make sure it meets your own business goals. (attracting new clients, getting subscribers, etc).

Defining your audience

What is the purpose of your blog? Why did you start it, and who is it for? Who do you want to attract—Small business owners? Photographers? People who like sports?

With your target audience in mind, what do they require? What are they seeking help with?

What are those people like? Write down

  • their age,
  • gender,
  • location,
  • potential jobs,
  • their income bracket,
  • their hobbies,
  • their interests

In short, everything you can think about who your “ideal” audience is. Get specific.

What other blogs in your niche do they follow?

What can they find on your blog that’s different from the others they follow? i.e. Why should they pay attention to you?

You can use this information to overhaul your blog’s content strategy. You will find it is now easier to come up with topics and write articles for your blog.
